we launched Wineup Academy!

WineUp Academy is an online course platform where you can learn everything about wine, from the comfort of your home, at your own pace.

Through WineUp Academy I am returning to my first love, that of a teacher, this time in the online environment.

I spent the first years of my career in the viticulture field at USAMV Cluj as a teacher, where I taught Viticulture, Oenology, and Ampelography. I enjoyed interacting with students, even those who were unimpressed with wine and the subjects I was teaching. Being a teacher or educator gives you special satisfaction because, in one form or another, you have an impact on your students. For me, it's nice to see that some of my students today work in various wineries in Romania, but it's equally nice that I stayed in contact with many of my students and I enjoy their professional and personal successes.

The subsequent activity as a wine consultant brought me other satisfactions but it also made me look at wine much more pragmatically, from the perspective of the wine producer, in which all stages and processes must be followed and managed according to the conditions of each year, the age of the vineyard vines, the adaptability of the varieties to the terroir, the winemaking technology. The focus on wine quality, trends, customers, and how to attract and retain them is a constant challenge in this field, which forces you to become creative and inventive. But all this allowed me to proudly talk about the projects and investments I managed, to talk with undisguised pleasure about the wines in the glass, to lead tastings, or organize events.

WineUp Academy was the missing link in the projects we launched so far.

It's an educational project that complements the WineUp Fair in Transylvania, the wine fair I've been organizing since 2015, and the Wine News from Romania project I launched in 2020. All these projects represent for me the relaxing part of the wine story, the sensory exploration, discovery, tasting, association, and socialization.

So from today, I invite you to discover the secrets of wine, because wine has no flavor without friends, without an open community, full of verve, elegance, and passion.

I see wine as an art form of nature and an expression of the people who make it. You will discover with me, a whole world of aromas and tastes, of winemaking styles, impressions of the varieties but also the impression of the oenologist.
