Organizers of the 94th American Film Academy Awards have announced that Fleur de Miraval Rosé Champagne has been chosen as the official drink of this year's event, replacing the long-standing partnership with Piper-Heidsieck.
The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 27, at the Dolby Theater Hollywood, California, and champagne will be served both during the premiere and during the Governors' Ball - the official post-Oscar party. The presentation and serving of champagne began with the Oscar nominees' lunch on March 7 and will continue at all Oscar-related events in Los Angeles, New York and London.
Serving Fleur de Miraval Rosé Champagne, best known for its association with Brad Pitt, was a "natural choice," the champagne brand said in a statement announcing the news.
"Fleur de Miraval will now be the champagne of the greatest stars of cinema and of all those who contribute to the beauty and success of cinema around the world," the statement said.
Fleur de Miraval Rosé Champagne, is a collaborative project between three families; Brad Pitt and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie, who own Château Miraval in Provence, along with the Perrin family who own Château de Beaucastel and the Péters family, who are based in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and are internationally renowned for their champagne.
The Pitt and Perrin families have already united the wine world with the arts with the introduction of Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé in 2012, and the Péters family has its roots in the production of champagne couture with a six-generation winemaking history.
"The intense dedication to the arts shared by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Fleur de Miraval's home will be even more evident than usual during this very special ceremony," said Fleur de Miraval's partners.
Pitt and partners launched a second edition of Miraval Rosé's Fleur champagne in October last year, marking the second version of champagne since the debut of wine in 2020.
"For me, champagne evokes feelings of celebration, quality, prestige and luxury. . But rosé champagne is still relatively unknown. We wanted to try to create the defining brand of rosé champagne, focusing all our efforts only on this color. The result is spectacular and I am very proud of it. ” Brad Pitt
Last year the stars received the illuminated Cuvée Brut magnum, personalized with the Piper-Heidsieck signature. The famous champagne bottle, internationally recognized for its red label, "lit the Oscars", each bottle being based on a button, by pressing it the bottle was lit. The wines served belonged to Francis Ford Coppola Winery, an Oscar-winning partner for the fifth year. The wines presented in 2021 were a limited edition 2019, Russian River Valley Chardonnay and Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, wines produced in Sonoma, California, for which the winery created two iconic bottles, completely covered with gold, as a "silhouette" reminiscent of of the most famous statuette in the world, to symbolize the talent and passion that unites the great cinema with wine.
