The evaluation of the wines obtained from Rară Neagră was a challenge for me when I met them in the first tastings, because I did not know the profile of the variety and what wines can be obtained from it.
The Rară Neagră variety is included in the category of volume varieties, in favourable years a grape can reach up to 2 kg - 2.5 kg, which is not necessarily a advantage when it is desired to obtain a quality wine. The only method by which quality wines of this variety can be obtained is to limit the amount of grapes produced on each vine either by normalising the fruit load, leaving only a small amount of grapes on the vine or by shortening the bunches before the ripening. Producers who want to obtain an extractive wine, flavoured with a medium body end up applying both procedures for normalising the production in the vineyard.
Crama Mircești Rară Neagră, is a fruity, aromatic red wine, with notes of cherries and cranberries, with a medium body and fine tannins. It is a gallant and elegant red wine with a light ruby red color, with a round, velvety, delicate taste, with hints of cherries and peppers, the influence of the barrel wood is subtle, the wooden notes are delicate and imprint a slightly spicy taste. A wine that challenges you to discover it carefully and patiently.
Tasted at 16 ° C it opens quickly and can be easily evaluated, for consumption I recommend it cooled to 14 ° C, the perception of flavours is more intense in taste at this temperature.
