On its 100th anniversary, the OIV presented a retrospective analysis of global vine and wine trends over its century and revealed the first 2024 estimates on wine production.
The 29 November 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the OIV founding treaty signature.
On this special date, John Barker, the Organisation's director general, presented the very preliminary results of an exceptional study overviewing the Vine and Wine Sector over the past century. This analysis covers data collected from 79 wine-producing countries *.
Additionally, Barker introduced the new OIV strategic plan, which will be accessible on our website in early 2025.
Giorgio Delgrosso, OIV head of the Statistics department presented also the first estimates on wine production in 2024.
In 2024, world wine production is expected to decline further from the low volume of last year. Climatic challenges across both hemispheres are once again major contributors to the reduced global production volume.
Consult here for the complete OIV 2024 World Wine Production Outlook.
*This exceptional data will be available next year when a special publication will be released.
